Two seating options are available: main floor café seating with refreshments at your table during the set, or balcony seating with serve-yourself option.

The Edgar Knecht Trio is a renowned German jazz group led by pianist and composer Edgar Knecht, known for their unique fusion of jazz with German folk songs, breathing new life into traditional melodies with influences from world music and classical. With Knecht’s deep classical training and jazz mastery at the core, the trio transforms material from unexpected sources — especially old European folk songs — into fresh, expressive jazz music that resonates far beyond genre boundaries.  The group’s arrangements often draw on melodies that have centuries of tradition behind them, only to reveal new life through inventive harmony, rhythmic diversity, and improvisational depth. This approach has led critics to describe their work as a unique fusion of jazz, classical sensibility, and world-music influences, challenging listeners’ expectations and expanding the expressive possibilities of small ensemble jazz. The trio’s performances are distinguished by their narrative quality. Rather than simply presenting tunes and solos, they create musical journeys in which familiar thematic material is deconstructed, expanded, and recombined with spontaneous interplay. This gives the music both a sense of historical perspective and immediate relevance.
